Our annual celebration of both rarities and star-making moments, arranged from A to Z. 2014 was a year of big comebacks and big breakthroughs, and we featured two of the most significant on Dazed covers: we had Nicki Minaj laying out her pinkprint for (continued) world domination in our Fall issue, and brand new bona fide popstar FKA Twigs lighting up our Summer issue. Alongside those two, this year saw incredible, unexpected releases from the likes of Aphex Twin, Flying Lotus and Azealia Banks – but it was also undeniably the year a Soundcloud loosie could make you into a star, with viral tracks forming as important a component of our listening as albums did. PC Music split music journalistic dialogue down the middle while bringing dancefloors together; Young Thug became the hottest name in hip-hop, and the whole world was goin’ up every Tuesday. Dive into our favourite 100 tracks below, encompassing new ones from old favourites as well as all the curveballs that made this year so exciting. See you in 2015. Top 100 tracks of the year.
